Well, clearly the confusing thing is that the toprow was renamed ‘gallery’ last month, since that is the bulk of what shows up there. But in general, most community sites have the top row for ‘news’ as well as artwork, and I think our site would fall into the category of news that the Z community should be aware of, regardless of whether it is free or not. I’m out of town right now, but when I get back we’ll add a free video tut for the ZBC community… cool?

you better not stop the tutorials coming ;), cuz you don’t know how inspiring they are, u guys are the best and nobody can deny that. as for the tutorials… i have no words, they’re absolutely outstanding, it really shows the true art&artists coming along… you guys should never stop this, you’re just to good to be true…

dont waste time with complaining and do some more artworks with zb3 
BUT, for me it is nuthin else than advertising and the toprow was for art and pixologic news/plugins.
as meats mentioned “to be fair”, then you should plug digital tutors AND the free 3d trainer stuff and every other vid threads in the toprow, too.
I think, if you wanted to be fair, DT or 3d trainer would have to have a release of the same kind of scale. Gnomonology coming out, is much more than 1 DVD.
If anything, there’s some great pics of the artwork that is demonstrated in the tutorials, so I suppose you could count that as “gallery” worthy.
so why werent/arent the old gnomon zb2 vids in the toprow? they are worthy, too.

The old vids aren’t news. They were, but they aren’t.
When the old vids were news, ZBC hadn’t started putting news in the top row. I’m not sure we even had a top row for a lot of it.
Life evolves, and events generally happen in chronological order…

This isn’t one tutorial. It’s a whole new distribution channel. So, we can’t compare it to the release of any one DVD, and we can’t expect that individual releases will see the same kind of attention in the future.
But ultimately, it all comes down to is “there is no agenda. this was a casual decision.”
We’re putting too much thought into this.

Well, while I wait for the site to accept my money, I do have one serious question. No complaints from this side as I didn’t watch any tutorial mogies yet, and I do have high hopes.
Question: Those two tutorials on the creation of a female character by mr Petroc, are these 100% ZB3, or are they partly Maya? As I don’t own Maya, they would only be partly useful in the case that app were needed.
Zack does start by importing a simple box mesh, which could have come from anywhere (including ZB3). You can make something similar with ZSpheres, model it in Wings3D (free modeling app – very handy for this sort of thing), or ask around to see if another user can hook you up with an OBJ file. But, it’s not “from scratch” in that regard.
Really, his style of instruction is less about following specific steps to get the exact same result as it is highlighting the kind of things you should be looking for when you sculpt from observation. The lessons taught here should be valuable with any organic creature, so you shouldn’t get too hung up on that particular detail.
