Maya / ZBrush 3.1

Hi.

I am experiencing a new and irritating behavior. When I save out an .MB file from Maya as an .OBJ, and then import it into ZBrush, for some reason, all of a sudden, the model comes in backward. That is, when I save a model from Maya that is oriented to the front, when I import that same .OBJ into ZBrush, I get its back side. This means all the subtools are out of whack by 180 degrees. How can I correct this? This is new behavior. I have not had this problem before. I am doing something wrong and just can’t see it. Any ideas? How can I save out an .OBJ from Maya so that ‘Front Orientation’ stays consistent? Thanks!

Try adjusting the settings in the Preferences>importexportoptions menu.

Thanks for the reply, Aurick. You are always on top of things.

However, even tho’ I can correct the import by turning on ‘iFlipZ’ & ‘eFlipZ’, I still don’t understand why I have to do this at all. This is a model I have moved between ZBrush and Maya for months, 100’s of times, with no problem. Now, I have to perform back-flips? Why? I don’t understand what changed and where.

Thanks!

Unfortunately, I don’t know either. What is the base SubTool like? (The top one in the list.) Is it possible that its local coordinates got changed somehow?

Possible. If this has happened, is there some way to permanently correct these coordinates? Thanks! ~S.~
