Maya to zbrush holes

Hello all,

I am very new to Zbrush and I am encountering a problem before I have even begun.

I import a maya obj file into zbrush and as I import a screen appears saying that I have 60 non-standard polygons and they will be converted to quads or tri-sided polys, which is fine. Then when I place the object on to the work area, there are holes all through it and entire polys are for some reason missing!

Can anyone help me?

Thanks,

well first of all i highly recommend that you do not let zbrush fix your 5 sided faces, but to do it manually in maya (this well give you a cleaner mesh) and as for the holes in your mesh looks like you have normals facing inwards, not sure how to invert them in maya, i use silo but should be quite easy to figure out.

I’m new to Maya also, but I found this tutorial which tells you at the beginning how to fix your mesh to make it ZReady.

I hope it helps…
