Maya to Zbrush and back, Noob help!!!

Ok im new to zbrush … very new! Ive just been trying to export the test model of an owl form maya to zbrush and back… in the hope of learning how to use normal maps and displacement maps! ive checked through numerous tutorials… the owl just face just keeps messing up when rendered in maya!
Ive checked oover the uv’s none seem to be doubled up or overlapping. Zbrushes Zmapper bakes the normal map perfectly, when the normal map is imported back into maya the owls eye brows and feet crease and fold up! its driving me crazy!!!

any advice would be greatly appreciated!

here is the uv lay out ive tryed usinf all three methods of retaining the the original geomenty! but the and the eye brows still seems to mess up… any help would be amazing!

This is a common problem. Check out this thread, it’ll probably help:

I know it can be frustrating, but stick with it. It is worth it!

hey thanks for the link, ive tryed all three methods but still no luck… arghhhhh! is there any particular reason the displacement map is folding?
