Maya Problem: How to convert a .tif to a .map?

Hello, I have a problem in Maya.

I cannot convert my displacement tif file to a .map file like Maya wants.

The Imf_copy function does not work.

The convertfile.bat thing that is supposedly provided by Zbrush is nowhere to be found.

I’ve looked through the other threads and the links to the convertfile.bat are not working.

I’ve asked questions in other threads but received no reply so I am starting this thread.

Thanks for any help!

What version of Maya are you using? I’m sure there used to be a small app within the program folder that you can use to convert images.

Personally I never use .map files. I just keep the .tiffs as I don’t seem to notice much difference in rendering times.

Do a search on Scott Spencer, months aqo he did tutorials about Maya
and the conversion link was in it.

Thanks guys for responding.

I have tried the imf_copy program included with Maya. It won’t convert my tif for some reason. It gives an error message.

And I saw that Scott Spencer thread. The convertfile link does not work.

So both of those suggestions are not working for me.

I will try just using a tif instead of a map and see how it looks. Thanks.
