maya import

Hello,

I am using zbrush 3.5r3 for VISTA.

I would like to import in a mesh from MAYA and have it line up correctly in zbrush. My workflow is as follows…

  1. Export the lowest subdivision from zbrush as a .obj file.

  2. Import the .obj into MAYA and use as a template to show me where the mesh is in zbrush.

  3. I make my object in MAYA and place it according to the imported .obj.

  4. I export the MAYA object and import it into zbrush.

It isn’t in the same place as it was in relation to the model in MAYA. Any thoughts here? I’ve tried deleting history.

Can’t wait for GoZ for P.C. I know this issue would be moot with that in place.

Thanks for any help you can offer.

before you export you need to check some things.
tool>export…check that scale is set to 1 and xyz are all set to 0.

Once those are correct, export, import into Maya. Create whatever new geo you want.
export.
zplugin>subtoolmaster>multiappend
this import should make sure that everything lines up.
