Maya displacement crashing

after importing my model into Maya and setting it up for dissplacements, maya just sarts crashing with a “Fatal Error.” I dont mean during a render. Sure it crashes than ‘sometimes’ too. but it also just crashes a lot of the time when i simply click on the model to move it around. I even knocked all my textures, displacements down to 2408 just incase maya wasnt liking the 4096.

Has anyone had any issues with this?

The final model has 2.9 million polys, but the model in maya is only 45,000
Any help is greatly appreciated since i am pulling my hair out. May just have to render the sucker in zbrush
