I recently rigged one of my characters in Maya 2009, everything went very well intil I did a cluster setup on the face. At this point the displacement map failed to render, leaving me with the low poly mesh. The disp. was rendering fine until the clusters. Anyone?
Alright, a little troubleshooting after work has born fruit. I had read a quick tut on facial clusters and created them on verts with the relative option enabled, allowing me to parent it to a head control curve. And thats correct, do that. It also said to change the deformation order from ‘default’ to ‘after’ in advanced creation options. I don’t know if its changing the vert order or some stupid Maya ju-ju, just leave it at default and your displacement will render. In case you make my mistake.
