Awe man, this is wicked nice!!

very realistic flow of creature, love it:+1:small_orange_diamond:+1:

Finally got the mouth open. I was playing with an idea of having a squid/octopus beak in the throat area, but after sculpting it and placing it in, it just was not coming across right,
so I’ll save the beak for another creature. It’s better without it.

Now that the mouth is close to being done, I’m going to touch it up a little then jump on to coloring it. I’m aiming for a somewhat reserved color palette like I originally made it. Somewhere
around a shark coloration, dark on top, light on bottom with the details playing out in the transition.

Mahlikus The Black - Thank you!
rodion vlasov - Thank you sir!

I appreciate the comments and am always open to hear your critiques.

Hey Maury, nice work here. At first I wasn’t sure about the anatomy being correct with regards to the flow of the mouths/jaws but looking at it some more I feel you’ve pretty much nailed it, I’m no expert on anatomy by any means but I feel this is coming off strong. :+1: Congrats!

your work is truely inspiring mr.ruiz, just great designs in your sketchbook!:+1:
the polypaint your thinking off sounds great aswell, really looking forward to the end result!
this creature looks great with mouth open and mouth shut! Great job:+1:
All the best,

  • Kenny

This is a wonderful creature. Very well realized.

I’ve had this creature in my head ever since I made my previous aquatic creature. This would fall in the line of a mammalian manta ray creature. Definitely one of many aquatic life forms
I envision in as prey for my larger aquatic predator previously posted.

Jonboywalton82 - Yea, there is always some speculation when it comes to how anatomy would actually function, but as long as it’s cool and practical enough to sell it as plausible, then
I’m in the clear. Again, it’s something of a feat to take this to animation or even more difficult, practical effects, that the real plausibility comes into question as functioning mechanics. You
can never be to sure until you’ve built it for real, haha…
KC-Production - Thanks Kenny! I’m glad you’re inspired, as I’m always excited for creature stuff. I put off the coloring of the other creature to spice up my enthusiasm by starting something new,
even though part of it was borrowed from the original aquatic creature. The paint job will come soon.
EricShawn - Thank you! I’ve gotten enough of a reaction from my aquatic creature, so I decided to flush out some more life forms along that direction.

Hello Maury.

A very nice start !
Fibers without Photoshop this time. :)

Hungry to see the next step.

Had a little time to do this quick Alien bust. Just a quick BPR render with no BPR Filters. I’ve always preferred black and white creature images, as they always hit a more serious feel, so I decided to
color this entirely in black and white except for the rim light of course…

I really like the manta creature. The red is a bit intense, but his design is very serene. Diggin it.

Hi Everyone!

Been dying to get back to some personal stuff, so I started this the other day. Still gotta do a bunch of stuff like the feet and some details, color, etc…
I’ll post some larger images when I get a chance to finish it further.

Great silhouette and style, as usual. =)

Always doing great stuff.

Hey everyone!

Playing with some ideas of a flightless Chiroptera creature. Planning on finishing it, if time will allow…

excellent concept and looking forward to see it finish~

the whole model is actually pretty good already, but I do wish you would spend some time on the eyes area of the creature… give it a little bit more depth on the brow area would be a nice start.

awesome stuff man! Keep it up

Hi everyone!

Thanks Grassetti!

Thanks Piggy! I hear what you’re saying about the lack of depth to the eye area. I may have chosen to keep that area a bit subtle to
balance out the high degree of details that draw your eyes into the mouth and exposed olfactory system or nasal cavity, but
maybe since it drew your attention, I’ll play with how much I can push it while maintaining that fleshy smooth feel that I’m aiming
for. I appreciate the comment!

So, before I finish the other more serious creature, I wanted to make something a bit more playful for a change. I can’t help
but see the influence by Majin Boo from Dragon Ball Z, but I was aiming for a childlike expression… I think those
funnels on his head may have taken over the edge, but oh well… I’m having fun with it!
(I may add some color to make it pop)
