Materials into Maya?

How do you get the materials/shaders that you use in Zbrush into Maya?

When i export my object with texture etc a .mtl file is included, but in Maya it just change some Duffuse values on a lambert or whatever and is hardly looking the same as in Zbrush!

I mainly looking how to export a skin shader with my texture from zbrush into maya so i can render it there! Maby someone has a workflow tutorial on how to create a great skin shader and texture? (Looking to render with MentalRay if that has anything to do with the creation in any case.)

unfortunatly, you cannot use ZBrush materials in maya.

If you are looking to do skin, i suggest you use the MiSSS fast skin shader from mental ray…

ZB is a great programme to get a fast result to pre visualise your skin in maya though…but yea, it is a bummer, as ZB has some really great materials!

ok, thank you for tipsing me about MiSSS fast skin shader from mental ray

So if we use zmapper etc to texture our characters, we can’t transfer that into MAYA? - i know normal maps etc can be transfered by why not our texture work? ( or is it only the material shaders like plastic toy etc???) sorry just confused on that one

textures yes…you can export them. you can even bake the material into the textures but you cannot export the shader itself out of zbrush and into maya.

I’ve seen the ‘bake material’ plugin, but whe I download the zip file all I seem to get are a load of jpegs and a link to the skin tutorial -
is this plugin the only way to bake my material onto my texture? :qu: I really want to use it in maya… !
