Material's get overwritten in Keyshot everytime I send an update from Zbrush.

Hello!

I’m having an issue with zbrush keyshot bridge. I send my info from zbrush to keyshot, and it loads fine. I adjust materials in Keyshot, then I go back to zbrush to move some objects around, then I once again send my info over via BPR button- this is where the problem starts. If I had changed the settings of a material, they get overwritten and set back to the settings they were the FIRST time I sent my stuff from zbrush to keyshot. All my material information I adjusted gets destroyed. Is this a known thing? Or is my install messed up in some way? This is a very vital thing I need. I iterate a lot in zbrush and go back and fourth, hence the point of the bridge.

I got one error when installing keyshot, I wonder if it’s related. It states: “Insufficient permissions for interla downs folder: C:/users/username/documents/keyshot 6/downloads Both user and group requires read/write access permissions. This will yield problems during runtime until it is fixed.”

Please help in any way! If this feature worked I’d be so happy. Or if there’s a way to work around this to save my materials in some way?

Thanks,
Dylan

update to this: to be more specific, objects I move in zbrush, then reupdate keyshot with lose their materials in keyshot that I have tweaked, and get the initial zbrush material they were assigned, with the default settings. I have not changed the names of anything or anything else like that. Please help!

Probly the simplest fix for this is to save your tweaked keyshot materials in keyshot.

Then, if you resend and lose your mat, you can just drag and drop the saved, tweaked mat onto the object that lost it’s material.

You could also set up a keyshot material template, but that’s a lot of work.

Yeah, zbrush support in this regard is pretty weak. Getting my company to buy the license was an entire thing(floating licenses for bridge apparently you need to telephone them directly…get with the future people.)

This is apparently NOT A FEATURE of zbrush bridge. They don’t expect the materials to update. It took like 10 emails to figure out that it’s “one way” so forget any revisions if you want to keep materials. Super weak considering I feel like it was advertised this way.

The documentation on this zbrush keyshot and bridge is seriously embarassing as well. That might be cool if everything automatically worked- but it doesn’t. The documentation is about 1/4th of a page long. Oh well. Really dissapointed in keyshot/ bridge purchase, wish I hadn’t.

As I mentioned, Keyshot Material templates DO work for this.
… and once they’re set up, you can tweak and resend from Zbrush without losing your materials.

Even between sessions. You can apply a Keyshot template, and it will correctly assign the materials.

Thanks man, I’ll give that a try!!
