Material Transparancy with image planes (answered!)

Hi

I was wondering how I can make my material transparent so I can see my reference image from behind like in this tutorial image below.

I’m trying to follow this tutorial, but I’m unable to download the example file there.

you append a mesh to the Imageplane ZTool. And when you swich to the appended mesh, turn on Transparent.

This doesn’t work in ZBrush 4.

ZBrush4 ImagePlaneX ZTool (NOT ImagePlane4 Plugin)


  1. ZTool ImagePlaneX
  2. Append a PM3D subtool
  3. Transp = ON
  4. Preferences> Draw> Back Opacity
With your subtool selected, make sure Ghost = OFF if you want to the the TextureMap on the ImagePlaneX

Try than and see if it works for you.
