material painting doesn't work

hi, I have a tool loaded into zbrush, and it apparently has a material applied to it. I try changing the material but nothing happens.

if I go to polypaint and turn off “colorize”, then the material I selected previously now appears on my tool, but the minute I paint a color onto my model, it will revert to the material it had before.

selecting the M channel or the MRGB channel won’t affect the material at all. no material can be applied onto this tool if colorize is on.

it only happens to this tool.

what am I missing?

Does the subtool have a texture map applied to it?

If you have a texture map on that subtool, you need to convert that to Polypaint before you can paint further on it.

nope, no textures that I know of, it’s really weird

Ok I guess I found the problem. the base layer had a material or color applied, Idk.

I had 4 layers on top of it without knowing, so apparently it would not apply anything properly on a layer on top.

still a bug though, it should work fine on top layers. shrugLegbug.zip (55.9 KB)
