MATERIAL CAVITY PROBLEM

I change material settings,material looks like on this picture but in viewport anything not changed. How can ı fix this?I’m trying to make cavity effect on material.Thanks! DQDQD

Hi @emreka

If the material is not changing on the mesh, it usually means that you have already filled (FillObject) with the material that’s on your mesh now. You can, however, reset the material so that you will get a live preview of different materials again.

  1. Select the “Flat Color” material in the Standard Materials palette and then turn on “Mrgb” above the viewport.

  2. Go to “Color” menu and click “FillObject”.

You should now be able to get a live preview of any material you select.

Are you using Best render, because Cavity shading only works in Best render mode.

I need to make cavity effect on viewport,how can ı set this?

You can’t. It doesn’t work that way. It only works with best render. You would probably be better off using cavity masking and polypainting.

There are other ways of creating a materials with that effect. Search Youtube for tutorials.

If this is the type of effect you are after, here’s a material you can use and study to see how it’s made. (From the Pixologic Material Library)
