I created a cylinder and a flat lattice that I want to form to the diameter.

When I do this using the matchmaker brush the lattice is projected straight on the cylinder.
But i really do not like the projection it gets stretchered on the edges. (below)
I tried using the deformation tool but that did not wrap the lattice very far plus it is more difficult to get it precise. (below)
Anyone know of any other work flow that would give me the wrapping that I looking for with projecting the lattice?
