MatCap question...

Hey guys, I searched and didn’t see anything on this.

I’ve got an idea for some pretty cool sculpts I want to do for printing as posters, but I am pretty new to zBrush overall and very far from knowing much about creating my own materials yet.

Would anyone be willing to try to make or help me make an xRay matcap? closer to white than the typical blue-tinted ones.

It would be greatly appreciated and if I can repay you with graphic or web design help I’d be all about it.

Thanks so much for any help or advice.
Cheers,
holto

Edit:
Sorry mods, I wasn’t certain where this would go, since it was directed more towards other users. Thanks for moving it.

There a material in this collection that you might be able to use:

holto, if you have an image you’d like to get close to I can give it a try. I’ve created quite a few matcaps before so it shouldn’t be too much trouble.

So here’s a quick x-ray material. The problems I’m seeing are that you would need different materials for different areas of bone. The more dense the bone the whiter the xray gets. You can modify the amount of white using the Depth A slider in the modifiers menu under the materials menu.
Also the lack of transparency kind of ruins the effect a bit.

Hope it helps.

I love you all… awesome help!

I looked through so many damn matcap threads last night and never saw the bone ones…

I’ll try this one graphite, I thank you a thousand thanks

I am realizing that to get the full effect I am going to have to render the parts in layers… I didn’t realize that you couldn’t have transparency in matcap materials. Damn it.

These all look great though and I think you both may have saved me tons of headaches.

It also just so happens I was working on sculpt with a mask I wanted to do in bone!

BOOYA!
