Matcap being applied to wrong subtool - help

In ZB4 I select the subtool I want but when I try to apply matcap to it ,it is applied to another subtool. Also I have been able in rgb mode to apply a matcap to the subtool - this shouldn’t be happening correct? Any ideas…I tried initialize, reinstall, bringing ztl back in to try matcap, hiding other subtools while working on the one I want…etc…nothing works.

If the subtool or file is corrput what can I do? Thanks

anyone…? :frowning:

Your question is a bit vague, but it’s possible that the subtool you have selected is already “filled” with a material (Color > FillObject) and is not affected by a live update when you select a different material in the material palette, whereas the subtools that were not “filled” are changing material. If this is the case then it is possible to reset the material on that subtool so the live update will work again.

  1. Select the subtool that isn’t changing to the materials you select.
  2. Turn on ‘Mrgb’ button.
  3. Select the ‘Flat Color’ material from the Materials palette.
  4. Go to ‘Color’ menu and click ‘FillObject’ which will reset your material.

You should now be able to select a different material for that subtool.

I’ll give it a try thanks. I’ve also noticed that if I uncheck the record button in layers tab and then re-engage the record button when I’m finished whatever I’m doing it won’t let me - strange stuff…any ideas on that one?
