MATCAP Baking plugin issue?

Hi a buddy of mine is having an odd issue where he uses the Mat Cap baker plugin but once it does its thing the new texture has a wireframe of the lowest subdiv of his mesh any idea’s cause I’m at a loss?

Hi @Jonathan_Silberstein

If he is using the latest version of ZBrush (ZBrush 2020.1.1), did he download the latest version of the plugin ?

HI ZBER2 he said yes should I tell him to reinstall the baker again?

No, I don’t think it’s an installation problem because you don’t really install it. You just place it in the ZPlugs64 folder. I think Joseph Drust is the developer of the plugin. Maybe he will know the best thing to do.

OK well thanks for the help.

@Jonathan_Silberstein

The only other thing I can think of that would show the wireframe is that he is using the “BumpViewerMaterial” in the Standard Materials palette. That is normal behavior for that material. He will have to select a different material. If that is not the case then you will just have to wait for a response from Joseph Drust.

Maybe double check the UVs if he’s using a multi-program pipeline (especially 3DS Max), as its not unheard of for the UVs to become unwelded and individually flipped somewhere along the way. Visually it can be hard to notice at a glance since the UV Islands/Shells will still look to be arranged the same, but because every face is individually flipped it will lead to a noticeable faceting effect when creating certain types of texture maps.

@Jonathan_Silberstein It should be working correctly but there may always be a bug in there somewhere :slight_smile: Have your friend submit a support ticket to support.pixologic.com and I’ll see if I can get him back up and running :slight_smile:
