I’m following along a tutorial (Digital Tutors - Intro to ZBrush) and I have a shadowbox - I then try to manually draw a mask on the shadowbox but it doesn’t work (I see a very faint indication that something is going on but nothing happens - Intensity is 100%). It accepts masks using the masking box/frame - but not, seemingly by freehand!

ZBrush 4R 6 P2? Check to see if solo is on, if on, turn it off.
Yes, the latest version (my first). Solo is off but in that session of ZBrush I had been playing with it. I shutdown and restarted and now it works just fine! (Rather than closing and re-opening ZBrush I have been recently just using Initialise ZBrush under the preferences menu.)
