Masking with lasso results in symmetry issue

I’ve been masking using this method with no issues. But all of a sudden when masking using the lasso option with x symmetry turned on I’m getting z symmetry and y symmetry masking.
After closing ZBrush and re-launching everything seemed to be OK, until I finished masking a complexed area, zoomed out and found the mask at the rear of the model and bottom.
Only X is turned on under symmetry and I have tried everything I can think of.

If I used the freehand masking option it does what it says on the tin. The same applies to the rect brush.

Is is possible I have inadvertently turned another setting on?

Any help would be gratefully received as this is really driving me crazy.

I think that is something that BackfaceMask is supposed to prevent, but BackfaceMask isn’t working properly at the moment and Pixolgic is aware of it. I would suggest that you hide the parts that you don’t want affected then do your masking.

Thanks for the quick response zber2. That’s exactly what I’ll do, otherwise I’ll be here until next Christmas trying to figure out what is going wrong.
