Masking with alphas

Hi everyone,

I’m new to zbrush and this forum,
I’m really exited about this soft a all the amazing stuff i see here at ZBC.

And now that i’m on my firts sculpts, here’s my first newbie question (yeah i know… Sorry!)

SO :

When i try to make a mask using an alpha (std brush + alpha selected + drag stroke) when i hold control, the std brush becomes the mask pen brush, the dragRect stoke becomes the freehand one & my alpha turns off.
So the only type of masks i’m able to do is the handdrawn one.

I’m lost ! I’ve watched the intro videos, tried to search in the forum but didn’t find the answer so… Sorry if ther’s already a thread about that…

hold down ctrl, then click on the type of alpha and stroke you’d like for masking. hitting ctrl switches to the masking brush(s) so you can just release control and go right back to masking with the brush you had selected previously.
