Masking Visible

Hello,

is there a way to mask only the ‘visible’ parts of a tool.
By visible, I do not mean the ‘visible’ subtools but what we can actually see on screen.
For instance, I view the left side of a tool and in some way on my screen, I can mask all what I can see on the screen of the left side of the tool. Then I rotate the tool to another view and I mask what I can see on the screen.
Is there a way to do that?

are you wanting to mask my normal direction, or are you saying you want to zoom in on a face and grab a mask of the visible polygons within your current canvas view?

both in fact.

I don’t believe you can mask by normal direction inside of Zbrush…well, not outright. You can create polygroups based on normal direction (tool.polygroups), you can then use polygroup masking which would give you normal direction masking you’re looking for.

As for masking what is visible to you, you can simply use a rectangle mask and go from one end of your canvas to the other.

Hope that helps.
