Masking the back side of the mesh?

Hi all,

Say, I’ve this model here:

As you can see, I’ve masked a part of the arm on this side, but when I rotate the model to view the other side, it’s not masked.

Is it possible to mask through to the other side? I tried turning on BackFaceMask under the Brush menu, but it has no effect.

Thanks!

You can adjust the distance slider for backface masking intensity. You will find it in Brush>Modifiers>Auto Masking.

Tks, but in the menus, I can’t find anything that has “distance”.
See here:

He actually wants the opposite effect.

Brushes are “3d” and have a spherical volume to them, the circle is just an indicator of the effect.
You’ll want to use a masking tool that isn’t a brush. Mask lasso is most likely what you want as these brushes project through an object.

I see. Thanks a lot!
