Masking straight edges

Hello.

I’m new to masking, up to now I’ve been sculpting a ton but today I’m learning masking. I am working on a building in ZB, I want to use some alphas to sculpt planks onto the sides of the building. My plan was to mask of each side, go into Projection Master and alpha in my wooden planks. My problem is masking of a single flat side, I can’t find out how to get a perfectly straight line, or select a set of polys specifically. I can post a picture if that would help?

Regards.

E.

EDIT: Here is an image, is it possible to select just a couple of faces and mask the rest?

Hide everything except what you want to mask. Then Ctrl+Click on an empty part of the canvas to mask the visible polygons.

In the future, the easiest thing to do is create polygroups for all the major parts of your model up front. Requires a little extra work and foresight, but you will be thankful for it when your sculpting.
