Masking Question: Please Read!

Hey All,

Is there anyway to save masks to go back to at a later time? I just keep thinking in terms of Photoshop where you can set a layer mask and at anytime go back to that mask. I find it would useful if users could define a mask on their geometry and save that mask layer to be able to use at a later time, be it for polypainting or sculpting.

Any feedback would be great! Thanks.

Polygroups might work for what you need. You can find the option under the Tool->Polygroup section. You’ll need to turn on the polyframe to see the different groups, but they’re still there when polyframe is turned off.

yeah I guess I can do that, or I can just use layers as well as kind of “masks” to work on.

I have another masking question, I have an object with an interior and exterior “Mechanical Component” It is all one object and I am trying to seperate the mesh into polygroups. Is there an easy way to Mask an outside portion without having the brush go through multiple sides?

I know that may not make sense but any Advice would help!
