Masking Problem

So I’ve gotten this problem… When I mask an area, the mesh doesn’t get colored dark like im used to. Instead the mask subtracts from the mesh without coloring it dark. You can still see the mask by the indention it makes on my model and it works fine other than that… however it’s distracting and annoying.

Anyone know what the problem might be?

it looks like what happens when a bump viewer material is applied to a mesh. What kind of material is applied to the body? Does this same thing happen on the redwax areas of your mesh?

I changed to the basic material and now it’s ok!
