Masking PRoblem with Ambient Occlusion

Hello , whenever I click on Mask by AO on a model I sculpted , decimated etc the Zbrush program gets stuck with the icon keeping stay in the “processing” look …

So the Zbrush is stuck forever and I have to alt canc and quit the program … this happens every time with every model … is there something wrong ? a bug or perhaps I am doing the wrong thing?

I wanted to use this with polypainting …

I have already decimated , the object has more or less a million polygons or less , the Cavity works fine , but AO just stucks and freeze the program …
Can I simulate somehow the AO with cavity ? I tried several combinations of curves but I always get nothing like tha AO …

what are SD levels?

SD levels are Subdivision levels. Ace suggested it before you mentioned that the model was decimated.

If this is happening on every model, even incredibly simple ones, you might need to share a little more information about your computer setup, how the program was installed, etc.

Do you get problems when rendering AO with BPR, Multi Map Exporter, or using it to guide UV Master? If the model does have UVs and MME works, perhaps as a workaround you could bake out an AO mask, load it as a texture and have zbrush mask by intensity.

The model has no subdivision levels because was already decimated and pretty light , I experienced the same problem with other unsubdivided ones , the problem stays only with the AO , all other masking works fine … the model has no uvmapping so I can0t use that workaroung , what do I need to say about my compter setup?

Then I installed Zbrush as the installer required , didn’t make anything special …

I know, he asked about SD levels before you had mentioned the model was decimated. What about any of the other options suggested? Your current model may not have UVs, but you can still use BPR and if it does this for every model like you’ve reported, then it would be easy to test on a model that has UVS.

Dont know the multimap exporter , I will take a look at Uvmaster now …

Ok pressing unwrap causes a similar freeze and forever loading … it says file exported time 0.128 secs but the icon of mouse stays like a rounding blue circle …

I used to work fine with the uvmaster in my previous versions of Zbrush tough …

Perhaps I can try to reinstall? Is there a way to see if there are corrupted parts of Zbrush ? or a automatic reinstall way ? or I need to manually remove the folder?
