check if there more than one subtool and i made a quick test and cant duplicate. You use ctrl+i ?

…there is just one Sub tool, ctrl i shoes the mask on the head?!

Have you got symmetry switched on?

Hi Marcus, i tried both with and without sym. just the same:cry:

Can you say exactly - step by step - how you are masking to get this result?

Hi Marcus, here we go, ctrl button activated while drawing a mask form(on the tale) then klick on masking inverse, instead of showing me the inversed mask i drew(on the tale), he shows me the complete body as masked only the head isn’t masked?
I hope you understand what i mean?!

Yes, but which Mask brush are you using?

Edit: Apologies, I see it is the Mask Rect.

Can you post a low res version of the model? I can’t think why this should be happening.

Hi Marcus a ztl file is to heavy(91mb), but i tried something else if i make a part of the dragon invisible and then use the mask function it works, if i use the mask function on the complete object it doesn’t work(the problem i described), this doesn’t solve the problem but i can use the mask function.

To make it clear:-), 1. if i make a part of the object invisible and den use the mask function it works fine, 2. if i use after that mask session the mask function on the hole object he shows the mask like described at 1.
could this be a bug?

Hi Silberdenar

Maybe there is something wrong with your mesh. Did you try ‘Check Mesh’ button in the Geometry subpalette to check mesh integrity?

I’ve had this happen. It’s almost like a prior mask gets burned in and won’t let go.

Not sure what caused it and it took a while resolve, I believe I had to save the object (I think as .obj and not ztool) and then import back in.

Good luck,

Sam

it is exactly like Sammer 1 described!! Thanks guys for your help!! :+1: :+1: :+1: :+1:

We would really need a mesh to investigate this issue. A ztl of just the first subdivision level should be enough (you can use the Tool>Geometry>Del Higher button to get rid of the higher levels).

Hi Marcus i did’nt new that :+1: , I’m still not to old to learn  here’s the mesh.

Silberdenar,

Many thanks, I can reproduce the issue and will pass the mesh on to the development team.

Here is a way to get the masking to work as expected:

  1. Shift+Ctrl+drag over a portion of the model to select. Release the mouse button. The area enclosed in green will remain visible and the rest of the mesh will be hidden.

  1. Shift+Ctrl+click the canvas background. The whole mesh will become visible and the masking issue should now be resolved.

nop, “2. Shift+Ctrl+click the canvas background. The whole mesh will become visible” ,the mesh without the tail becomes visible?!

Silberdenar,

You are Shift+Ctrl+dragging. You must Shift+Ctrl+click.
