Masking (Pen) Problem - Serious help needed

Hi all, I have tried searching for a solution to my problem in the masking via the internet but none has seems to be applicable in my case and hence I have come here hoping that some of you can help me.

The problem I have when I tried to do masking, whether I am adding or erasing it (please see the pictures attached), I have got this blurry/feather-alike edge around my brush. In addition, my brush stroke/color is of a lighter tone no matter how hard I press my tablet pen/ by using the mouse.

If I am not wrong, both the color/stroke of the masking is supposed to be of a solid color and it should not have this feather-like edge around the brush right?

I have tried resetting and restarting my ZBrush, still the same problem persists.

Does anyone have any solutions to help me? By the way I am using ZBrush 4.

Hi,

You simply need to adjust the focal shift of your brush. A value of -100 will give you a very sharp edge to your stroke, for example.
As for the colour tone, it’s either just a value you need to change in the RGB/Z sliders or perhaps your tablet settings need to be changed.

Hi Trist, thank you for getting back to me and at the same time, sorry for the late reply. I have tried your solution by adjusting the RGB/Z sliders to the full and focal shift to -100. Though it has somewhat improvise my situation but still there is a bit of the ‘feather-alike’ edges as I have mentioned in my first post.

This time, the edge has gotten much more smaller.

But I would like to know if you or the others may know if this masking problem could actually be a bug?
