MaskCurve, MaskLasso, MaskCircle and MaskRect with BackfaceMask ON still select.

Hello Zbrush Forum - my name is mads madsen, working in hamburg , germany - first post here. ( BTW brilliant forum - hope to contribute too)
Slowly working my way into Zbrsuh as the tools offered in Modo wasn’t enough anymore.

BUT
i am currently cleaning some 3D scan meshes and having troubles with the
Auto BackFace Mask - (menue - brush - CTL click - and BackFaceMAsk ON) - and these masking brushes: MaskCurve, MaskLasso, MaskCircle and MaskRect - except MaskPEN - the rest does not care about whether the BackFaceMask is ON or OFF.
Have tried Z intensity too - …

any solutions - workaround - links to post - or where to look it up
thank you in advance.

As far as I know it’s always been this way. It wouldn’t surprise me if it’s even required in order to make them work as they do otherwise.

You can kind of work around Mask Rect/Circle using Projection Master. Turn off Fade and Double Sided, use Drag Rect to mark an area (black color, +alpha if you wanted a circle). Pick it back up and then Mask by Color Intensity.

I’m not sure if you’ll find that to be faster than just masking normally, then unmasking the backfaces using MaskPen + Automasking.

thank you for the xpress reply - i will try that - but what a pitty if they never gonna work like that - would be rapid masking tools i would say

Also, you can use Ctrl+Shift and hide the backside before you mask.

that is an idea! - just tried that - ok… working.

As i am GOZ’ting between modo and ZB - always a little afraid of forgetting to un-hide the meshes in the process.
Modo just ignorre that you have hiiding something - and the Zbrush script is triggered - and modo saves all and delete the history. not return. ( a ZB script that i have asked for rethinking via paul gaboury by Pix)
but yes ctrl+shift- that really speeds up.

Thx zber2!
