"Mask curve pen": How does it work?

Hello,

In my brushes-pallett, I found the function “MaskCurvePen”.
I tried to use it. I can make a very accurate curve but how can I get the mask for the curve? I only get a curve but no mask.
Has anybody yet tried this function and knows how it works? I nowhere find information in the doc-sites.

Are you holding ctrl?

Yes, I draw a closed curve while holding control. But after being ready, the content of the closed curve isn’T being filled with a mask.

In masking there is view mask. Without it on you won’t see it. As a test you could do ctrl+w to group masked parts.

Hello,

thanks for your answer. Now I’ve got it by myself:
What you mentioned, wasn’t the problem: After drawing the curve, I have to click on the curve, then a mask is drawn along the curve. So the brush doesn’T work as I thought.
But nevertheless thanks for your help.

I can’t seem to get this brush to work at all, even following everything in this thread. Did they happen to break it in 4r7?

I never used it in the previous versions… I tried to use it after seeing this thread. Maybe it is broken?

It’s just a crazy tool. You can drag the ends around and it keeps smearing new mask out like a wet string dipped in ink. Useless. It sort of snakes around the features physically too. Does NOT fill in the center of a loop, nor acknowledge that the loop is closed. The icon is thus misleading since it uses the same icon as the lasso tool, showing a filled interior.

Draw Size does control how thick the masking line becomes when you Control-click the line, but the result tapers off at the start of the curve and gets lighter unless you then also grab and jiggle the end point to make the whole snake move a bit back and forth.

This brush isn’t even in the online manual so seems to have been abandoned. I wish I had bezier editable masking loops after all.
