Mask by intensity crashes ZBrush

I grab a new tool, a sphere, make editable, increase to roughly 1 mil poly. Load texture (black and white image 1024x1024, set UV to spherical, apply texture. Go to mask, press mask by intensity, instant crash, every time. I just did this last night, with a tool and two subtools, and it worked fine. But, now suddenly there’s a problem.

I get this is as well. To get it to work somewhat consistently (it still happens now and again) I need to have the texture at 512x512. At 1024x1024 it tends to crash more often than not on certain meshes.
