Mari + Zbrush

So question for the experts, does anyone actually use Mari in there work-process. I’m just thinking of if I should invest myself in to this program. I mean I know it has a multi-layered system, which might be more efficient then zbrush since its a bit crashy in zbrush. So does anyone use it or any good benefits of using it with zbrush?

Hi,

yes I do use it together with Zbrush. But it really depends on the type of project.

I often use it for fine details, you can paint in 8k or more and have a flexible photoshop layering system on your fingertips.
On the other hand I find painting/sculpting in Zbrush much more comfortable. Its much faster, more responsive and you have noisemaker, LazeMouse, Project, masking and all these other cool functions we love.

Although I don’t mind the texturing system in ZBrush and kind of enjoy it I just purchased Mari and LOVE it. (I used it before in Beta but it’s been awhile).

I use Modo + ZBrush and they’re an unbeatable combination. Throw Mari into the mix and it’s pure heaven. My only gripe (which I hope is fixed in Mari 3) would be a nice way to set your scene up, paint an object in Mari and hit a button to have it transfer maps automatically to your scene.

A freeware program called “MoMa” by the amazing Jacobo does this but it’s not Mac compatible :frowning:
