mapping a texture question?

am new to this … i want a help with mapping a texture … i don’t really know what is it … can someone describe it to me and how to do it ? and i want to know if i can make it in zbrush or use another program ? :stuck_out_tongue:

I would be grateful if you could let me know

Are you in the correct forum? This is for Sculptris. If thats what you are using I apologise. But… all a texture map is , is the surface of an object that has been flattened out.Imagine peeling an orange in one piece and then flattening it out.
In Sculptris this is done automatically when you click on the paint "button " after you have finished sculpting…but…it does not “peel” your object in one piece, it sought of breaks it up into lots of little pieces! But you can still save this “texture map” and use it in other 3d software, but it is difficult to use ( adjust,re paint) in a paint program. More advanced software can unwrap you objects a lot more neatly.Try Googling “texture map” for more info.

sorry :stuck_out_tongue: am new here that’s why am in the wrong place … but thanx for the explanation really helped :+1:

Im leaving a message here, because your Private Mail box is full!!!

That is a very old tutorial. 3 years now I think.
The zclassroom has a good set of texturing basics for polypaint and spotlight. You also have the option of goz and zapplink. Goz to PS and goz to sculptris as well.

You are in the right forum btw.
