Mandrill at Zoo

Hi All,

I’ve Modeled and PolyPainted this Guy on ZBrush, then use C4d for Hair , Fur, lightning and render.

It’s a Mandrill an very clever and aggressive kind of monkey found in Africa.

Hope you like it!

Very nice man!! :+1:

looking really nice mate my only crit is that the monkey looks a little bit out of focus and could do with a little sharpening.

Those teeth would tear you apart!

Great work, i think adding an occlusion pass would help make it more defined. Very nice render, the hair looks great.

think you need different lighting on that guy,
the model and especially the teeth and mouth look great,
maybe just more spec on the material to bring out the finer details

Thanks guys for the comments.

That’s another render with more oclusion.

Thanks

Cool model and render! I agree about the lighting, somethings missing. Maybe the background is too bright cause it take my attention of the model… Great job either way! What did u use for the fur? its awesome! :+1:

Hi Meletis, I used the hair module of Cinema 4D. Thanks for your comments!

Nice monkey!

Yeah darken the background a bit, or add a vignette to draw focus to the subject. I’d also work on the composition of the image. If you squint down, everything its pretty much the same value, my eye just goes all over the image.

Also, it looks like there are texture seams on the upper canines.

Well done!! I know it’s hard to make a (SSS)-skin in C4D but your result looks good. Maybe there could be a bit more specular on the skin and nose. For little highlight-spots you could use a luminance-mask (no spec masks in C4D  ). The inside of the mouth looks a bit dry, and needs some reflection and more specular

I like the hair around the mouth but I think the other hairs are to fluffy and could have a fraction more thicknes and specular

But here are my 5*, great image!!
