Mandance Sketchbook

Hey all. I am mostly a lurker. I work in games. Starting a new role at 343 studios soon as an environment artist but I have been trying to do more organic stuff in my free time so I am going to keep posting here. I am currently studying anatomy under Alex Oliver and also taking a workshop by Bryan Wynia. Anyways, here is some stuff…Crits would be great. Amazing work in these forums.

dude, you schould go more into details, you have soem nice ideas, i would steal them myself if i could;D But they tend to be pretty simple ;]

Thanks for the responses guys. These are a series of speeds sculpts im doing. I am going to make a bunch of thumbnails in photoshop, take the best one and go further with them. I should be getting to it soon. Here is the final one…a little more fishy

Played around with these last 4 some more. Messed with some rendering and lighting. Its all new to me. I think I am moving on from these for now, going to do paint overs of them and take one final one to finish.

Ok here are 20 thumbnail paintovers, let me know which one you guys like the best to take to a finish? I am leaning towards doing B4. Thanks!

Well the entire A series rule, but Im a cephalopod fan anyway
B4 for sure is sweet
C1 and C3 rule
and D1
All are awesome though:+1:

I liked C4, it has a solid character imo

best ones
A4
B3
C1 C3 , but all of c all great
All of D, maybe D3

A lot of good designs ;D
You mind if i maybe steal one of them that you wont use ?;D

Fantastic stuff! I like all of those thumbnails. Though C1 stood out to me because he reminded me of predator. That’s my vote :slight_smile:

Your forms are lacking quite a bit on this guy, but thats to be expected, you cant be good at everything right away ;D
My advice is to swap clay brush for clay buildup, and trim dynymic. Sculpt wrinkles using dam standrad, and use alpahs only for skin pores ;] And smooth more ! i can see separate clay brush strokes you made, especially on the chest ;D
But still man, awesome job on concepting, you really could go places if you start doing a lot more of sculpting ;]
