Managing a UV change?

Hi All,

I have a question regarding reprojecting UV’s if they have been changed.

I exported a lores from max and brought it into zbrush, made a detailed sculpt and exported a Hi and LO res out, the Lores was used for making a texture map in a 3d paint program. In that program the UVs were found to be too small so they were enlarged accordingly to get more texture detail into the map.

Back in Zbrush I loaded the ztool, brought the object down to its lowest subdivision and imported its like lores which had the new UVs. Interestingly the shape and position of the new UVs match perfectly (at least when comparing them from within a unwrapUVW modifier) , BUT the vertex order has apparently been changed as on the Hi res the texture map is all over the place.

Is there a way to effectively do the above; i.e. bring in new UV’s while maintaining the order of the vertex’s or solve what may be happening here if I am incorrect in this assumption?

Thanks for your help!
Jim

it is an issue with MAX if you use any other software you shouldn’t get this problem. at least, not with Modo, Softimage and Maya in my experience. I am currently working on what needs to be done for max 2010, if you’re using 2009 you just need to turn off all of the optimize options in MAX.

2010…still working on it.

max 2010.

import obj.
convert to ePoly
modifier>unwrapUVW
edit UVs
convert to ePoly
convert to eMesh
convert to ePoly
export obj.

Zbrush 3.5r3

lowest subD
import obj

tada.

Goast!

Amazing, as soon as I get a chance; which should be by end of day or early tomorrow, I will test this out.

Thank you for your time and efforts!
Jim
