hi all! this is my first post on this forum…it’s a few time i use zbrush with 3dsmax but now i use it with XSI and it’a another thing
here u can see the low poly model (xsi), a shaded version modelled in zbrush and a final render meade with mental ray. That’s all
nice stuff man !
are you italian?
I use XSI too, have you used some displacement map?
congratulation again
thx for all!
yes i’m italian; i used zbrush “only” (not so only…) to create the displace map
do you know gattomanzo who is my teacher and another member of this forum?
I use change range and intensity node in XSI, how do you render your displacement map?
gattomanzo!!! where do u study? i study in milan at European Istitute os DEsign…anyway, here’s a little shot of displacement settings…i know this is a zbrush forum but zbrush is good with otjer sw too
VERY nice, I like it. Though why do you say “it’s another thing” to use XSI + Zbrush, compared to 3dMax+Zbrush? I’ve been using MAX for years, and I have just started incorporating my workflow with Z, but from my experience they work very well together.
hmmm i was a 3ds max user too, but i think xsi it’s better for many things; anyway, but it’s my opinion, i think that xsi gives better result in working with zbrush than 3dsmax…there i had lot of problems and i could never see accurate comparison with the zbrush model
p.s. sorry for my english
here’s another image:
I’m a student of Accademia di Belle Arti in Macerata, I thought you were a student of Accedemia di Brera…
anyway, I can’t see the page in your link, I have just registered myself on that forum, so I don’t have enough privileges to see the page…
can you save a screen shot of it?
hmmm let’s try

ok that’s it
hope it can help
thanks man !
have you made your map before entering in ZBrush? because I see a cylindrical map…the ZBrush displacement map is too different…maybe you have mapped your model with texture editor, right?
sure, i think zbrush is very fast for texturing 3d objects but if u need to paint on your texture after in photoshop i think teht’s impossible!!
so i prefer to map the geometry by hands, so i can add detail after on the generated displacement map in photoshop…sometimes the faster way is not the better way to do things…(my opinion)
Nice work. Welcome.
thx!
I think you have had a good result, but also I think that some programs like ZBrush was born to be faster than other sw about texturing and creating a great detail.
Smilegraphix, another member, had a nice discussion with me about displacement maps created in ZBrush to XSI…he have made a great character simply creating a displacement map in ZBrush with SubPix at the highest level and having many tests with his settings for the render tree in XSI…
I give you the link…

anyway it is interesting to see how many ways there are to create a great works !!
good ZBrushing man !! hope to see other your posts
vey interesting topic! the problem is that i’ìve been using xsi only for 1/2 months and i dunno yet right settings for the render tree, anyway, the work of the orc was mapped directly in zbrush??? my model was mapped in xsi and i had the possibility of paint on the map in photoshop…u can’t do this by creating the map with the GUV in zbrush
thx for the post
really interesting
scusa una cosa…il tuo AP_Displace è un plug-in di XSI ??
io nn lo uso molto bene ma gattomanzo si e lui nn lo ha riconosciuto, così ci è venuto in mente di chiederti se sia un plug-in…emh lo è?
excuse me a thing. … is your AP_Displace a plug-in of XSI??
I don’t use a lot well but gattomanzo use it very good, and he don’t recognized it, so we would ask you if is a plug-in…emh is it?
più precisamente è un add-on; me lo ha passato il mio prof di XSI, ma stando alle ultime cose che mi ha detto mi sa che nn è ancora stato rilasciato ufficialmente…
emh…quindi volendo io nn lo potrei avere ancora vero?
emh. so if I want it, I still couldn’t have it, right?
