My bad, I forget the blood with no oxygen is the blue coming back to the heart, the more you know;). Nice progress by the way, looks like your coming into the home stretch!
Thank you, I think I’m getting close now too. That is true about the veins however, there is an exception. The pulmanory veins, they carry oxygenated blood to the heart from the lungs. I call these the wierd veins. And there are also pulmanory artieries which carry deoxygenated blood to the lungs to become fused with oxygen. Not sure why I remember that though.
Material and different lighting tests. I’m still ironing out the displacement map. I’m going over it carefully. And I will add additional detail via a bump map. I’m trying to achieve a red meat look to him. Since muscle is pretty much red meat. So any suggestions would be great for this.

Not yet! I can upload an image of the eyes though I’m making a lot of progress on them too. However I just figured out how to get more detail out of 1.5 million polys so I’m cleaning up my model and enhancing the veins so they well look like veins! The muscle seperations are enhanced too. With the new displacement and the bump map technique I’m about to employ I think I will be able to get even more detail out of the textures. THis image is just a better view of the eyes. Still working them out, open to suggestions of course.
Why are his legs too short?

HIs legs should be about 4 heads tall, which is close to ideal proportions.
edit- the new photo is much clearer! So the tuckus should be raised a bit. Everything else seems to line up, although you can tell they don’t have the same head shape. I guess that’s dependant on the person. The character’s head originally looked somewhat like me.
I have made quite a few updates to both the displacement map and materials and lighting. I’m pretty happy with the eyes now too! Although I am not promising any updates this week. Its a very rough week to say the least. I have several reports and papers to do and maintain rhythm on my several art projects to get them done on time.

New lighting test! Lots of material updates to as well as displacement tests.
A Zbrush render of the current displacement map progress. I’m using Sebeciors (sic) Plastinalina shader here with a Green GI light. The fix for the proportions is not in this model, but in the XSI one. The Displacement map transfers the details over without any issues and in the correct proportions, when render in XSI.
Its 1.5 million polys still, so i’m going to have to add tinier detail via a bump map. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Also open to crits and comments.

Was just back thru this thread once again, because it is very enjoyable seeing the progress you have made and huge amounts of time and effort…and it is definitely paying off. Love your model…getting better all the time, truly.
Sorry for the lack of news. Been busy with the animation. I will post an update to the body later today or tomorrow. However I think I migh hold off on finishing this until zbrush 3.0 comes out. I think I can still take it to another level.
Here’s some of the latest work. I will be starting a new project soon so this may have to go on hold longer, but with zbrush 3.0 tools and lack of school at the time, I think the results are going to be much better! I’m just using the basic shiny material for this.

Batch of new renders. Made a great discovery, kitchen probe hdr is amazing! Or one of my settings seems to love HDR images on halfdomes. I’m using colored lights too.
