Making sub-tools transparent

Newb question, I looked for this on pixologic’s site but I don’t know if this information is correct.

I looked under preferences/draw, but see no sliders for making a subtool transparent. Where is it then?

It’s activated in the transform menu.

I see but this isn’t quite the effect I was looking for, I want the subtool to be transparent within itself and not just to other subtools. As in a simple wireframe view in other 3d modelers.
