Making a brick wall

I making a normal map for a low poly building. Only problem is that this method of placing individual bricks on the canvas takes way too much time. Here’s one hour of work and I’m not eaven half way through the process.

Is there a faster way of doing this?

yep…

try crazybump or shadermap pro (which is cheaper and better in my opinion)

if you have good photoref of simple flat things like brick walls - there is no reason to sculpt.

in the brush palette try alpha tile and/or wrap mode.
you can also draw out a few bricks onto a plane, grab as an alpha then use the above to tile it. there are many easy ways to do this in zbrush.
also a tileable texture video here which is a slightly older method but i cannot find the newer video.

I have CrazyBump but it gives very crappy results. Don’t get me wrong, it’s an awesome piece of software but it has limitations.

That’s the method I’m using.

i’ve done some tests with both ShaderMap and CrazyBump. ShaderMap does great.

got image from here and made it tileable in PS
