Make ZB remember my default folder for import?

I don’t store my obj files inside the c:\programs\ZBrush etc. folder but on a different hard disk.
ZB 3.1 remembered that, and when I clicked the import button it pointed already to the correct folder. ZB 3.5 always ends up in its own ZExportImport folder, and I have to click my way back to the other hard disk and into the correct folder. Since I use the import feature very frequently, this is a real PITA sorry.

3.5 remembers the folder for exporting, why not for importing???

Turn off Preferences > Misc > Use ZFolders and save you configuration (Ctrl + Shift + i). For the Tools palette this works for Save As , Import and Export. Edit: Load Tool also remembers the previously used folder.

ZBrush doesn’t have the ability to set custom I/O directories for projects or assets. Typically, when someone asks about it, a lame little workaround is suggested whereby you place a shortcut to the folder you want access to within the folder that ZBrush defaults to.

I’d like to be able to set my project folder like I can in most 3D apps.

It’s important to keep projects self-contained like this so you can confidently hand the project off to someone else - another artist, a printer, a render farm, etc - with complete confidence that you don’t have missing maps or other missing assets.

TVeyes’s advice worked for me. Thank you! :+1:
