Make active subtool transparent

Hello, I’ve been struggling the last couple of days with the problem that whatever I do I cant make the active object transparent - turning on transparency in the right panel (above the button ghost) doesn’t work, only for subtools NOT selected…

The documentation talks about:

  • ActiveOpc
  • InactiveOpc
  • MaxDepth

Something that should be below preferences>draw… What? I can’t seem to find these settings at all!

For a farely costsome application (for me at least…) I would expect a up-to-date documentation…

What I typically use to make the active subtool transparent is a feature from the “Image Plane” plugin. If you have that installed under Texture>Image Plane> there is a drop down menu that has some more features in it. In there is a model transparency slider. If you find yourself using this alot you can pull it out into the interface using a custom interface.

As far as the documentation goes… I feel ya. I used to brag about how awesome the Zbrush wiki was but now it has sorta slipped into disarray. I am sure they are just busy busting out new features. They should pay someone (me!) to fix it up for them.

The main problem with the wiki are the spammers. I’ve tried updating articles in the past but now things are on lockdown : /

Thank you so enormously very much for this information which is (not anymore) nowhere to be found on the Internet! You should indeed get paid for updating the wiki because right now it lacks one of the key features for most users, better run over there and talk some sense into them.

As usual, but they could at least get somekind of system together where they evaluate the incoming articles, there can’t be many of them during a month…

I am also trying to make my active subtool transparent. I went to Texture>Image Plane>Reference Views>Model Opacity and moved the slider to the left, even to 0. It doesn’t make my active subtool transparent only darker. The slider is literally functioning like a brightness slider. Does anyone know why opacity wouldn’t be working for me or have any other way to make the active subtool transparent, so that I can see my background reference images? I honestly don’t get the workflow of having reference images when the subtool is blocking them.

Thanks for your help,
Bryson
