I’ve been struggling with an attempt to recreate a feature that existed way back in version 3-- the Make 3D – single sided but closed with a flat back. At some point (exactly when, I didn’t notice), when the doublesided option is off, the mesh was no longer closed and was just a single-sided mesh with an open back. I can see why this could be useful, but at the moment that’s not what I want and it is inconsistent with what the help message says the doublesided option will do.
In addition, I notice that as of 4R4, when doublesided is ON, you get a mirrored back, but now that I’ve upgraded to 4R5, the back is no longer mirrored, the object is closed but it would appear that each poly simply has a backface now, as the back looks like the inside of the mesh, not a mirror of it.
I also note that under some conditions the corners of the mesh are rounded-- I’m not sure what that’s about or why anyone would want that.
The behavior has definitely changed, but the help message for the doublesided option has not-- what am I missing here? Is this a bug or a feature? Is there another option in some other area that affects how this will behave? How DO I get a flat backface now, or is that possible with the tool anymore?
Attached are 3 examples, 1) Example of flat backface with Doublesided OFF on ZB3.1 2) example of doublesided ON on ZB4R5 (concave backface) , 3) example of doublesided OFF on ZB4R5 (no back at all)
