Madwoman. Teodor Jerico

Hi! Recently I have met a surprising French artist in my arts history lecture, his name is Theodor Jerico (fr. Jean-Louis-André-Théodore Géricault, 26 sept. 1791). It was a line of portraits with insane persons. It amazed me. Now, when I have a bit of space time, I have decided to make one of them. I`ll periodically add intermediate results. Here is the 1st try)) Criticism & opinions are WELCOME!

nice job! very promising… :+1:

Very promising indeed, I have not seen someone take a photo and build a mesh out of it like you have…looking forward to the updates

Gericault! i love this portraits series! keep it up man!

Looks very good. Good likeness and the sculpt is coming along nicely.

The only problem is that you’re matching a painting that has a pretty weird mouth shape. So although it looks like the painting, I think It would look better if it were a more natural mouth shape.

Looking forward to your progress.

Fresh update. quick second model and appending cap and head.

lookin pretty good so far. I’m not sure why, but atm she kinda looks like a dude. Looks like some of the small, precise feminine details haven’t been translated accurately so far. Although the woman in the painting looks manly as it is so you got your work cut out for you lol.

To tell truth Im not sure what to take from her appearance to make her woman.. As we can see her face is really looking very manly. Just paint the face into white color and it will be man))) By the way you are not the first who told me thet thing about dude)) Let see what we can get after Ill paint it and render. Maybe all is not so bad we think. The one problem I see is lack of tablet)) I gonna crazy soon

A perfect example of color in a painting being used to decribe and enhance an emotional state of mind.
Will be quite a challenge to pull off that state of mind in a sculptural form, but it looks like your getting pretty close to doing it…:+1:
The upper lip on the right side of the painting, forms a nice upside down cresent shape that overshadows and overlappes the lower lip…key element to her expression and mental state…Maybe less brow ridge bone upper outside top of eye sockets will help solve the male/female problem…Just a couple of minor suggestions that may or may not be useful to you, but thought them worth mentioning.
Great subject, and Great challenge…Really looking forward to seeing the final outcome…Should be GREAT…:+1:

I will take it into consideration. Thanks a lot.Now im going to finish her headdress anв then I go back to her face where make some corrections. Next week. Must to make project for university((( and have to say goodbye to my ZB)) for some time)

First off, big props for doing “no tablet”
I wouldn’t be bogged down with the male/female thing, it’s not exactly like the original painting is of Angelna Jolie…Great progress, awesome headress, looking forward to updates
