Mac & Zbrush 3 Thread

I took windows XP off my mac. And reinstalled OS X Leopard.
Runs nice now.

After putting windows on my mac it got slow.

I wish windows would die out and people would wake up.
Vista was a major rip ofF of OS X and not even close to a good rip at that.

When ZB3 comes out for OS X you’ll see a big BOOM of art work come out from the waters we call the zbrush community.

^^^ Huh? ^^^

Looks like a “big BOOM” to me.

i know feelings run quite high for osx mac users but really…it’s a operating/file system…noting more really:roll_eyes:

if z brush was only available on irix…i’d be looking for a sgi system:)

it’s the app that matters not the o/s:+1:

it’ll appear soon enough…oh btw have you noticed the fundamental’s training from meats meir on gnomonology has gone…could be he’s getting ready
for launching zbrush 4.0 training?>>> siggraph 2008

I agree about the OS not being that big of a deal, but it will open the floodgates for thousands of artists that aren’t able to use the newest Zbrush. Odds are, since Mac has such popularity amongst newer 2d artists, a lot of the new Zbrushers will be illustrators. Which will result in even more awesome artwork in the already amazing ZBC galleries. Although Apple products are slick, I was about to completely switch to PC happily for Zbrush until Pixologic support convinced me it wasn’t necessary.

Nice observation on the Meats Meier tutorials! They’re all gone, the individual chapters and everything. I’m pumped, I learned a lot from his dvd’s. With the downloads gone as well, this is a sure sign that he’s about to release new lessons. They were a top seller, which makes me wonder. Why would they stop offering them this far from Siggraph? I guess it is only a month and a half. Maybe if Pixologic is planning a release before Siggraph, he will simultaneously release new dvd’s to walk people through the new features. Or maybe I’m just way too hopeful…

same story.

I think the OS does matter. If you run Zbrush on a buggy OS you’ll get a buggy Zbrush.

Windows XP 32 bit and windows xp 64 bit… All the 3D art gurus I know use the 64bit OS so they can use more ram.

Leopard has better file viewing option than that of XP or vista IMO.

I can scan through images and find the one I need fast. With out using 3rd party apps.

I really want to see how zbrush moves around in leopard.

peace

Mr. Storm, I totally agree with that point. A buggy OS will give you buggy software that runs on it. Best point I think has been made yet on this discussion. Looking forward as you are.

^Troll much?^

Kosher, Clearly you hate the Mac Os… I’m ok with that.
But, if you are not waiting for the Mac release of Z3+… why do you feel the need to bait those who are… grow up, get a life.

Dude probably is like 35, living in his parents basement. Let’s face it, Kosher has nothing better to do. LOL!

Hey, Mom!..The Meatloaf!!

Meatloaf.png

ok, this monday (tomorrow) will be the big day. I can feel it, again.

come one Big MONday release date!!!

Hmmm, Monday, eh? Let me look into my crystal ball… nope, nothin’…

It was pointed out a page or two ago that gnomonology.com just now removed every Meats Meier training download from their website, so that’s at sure sign that it’s around the corner. Who knows how big that corner might be, though? I requested off most of this coming work week for training purposes on Z3 and some other side projects, so I sure hope your feeling is right! A release during a week off would be golden!

lol… I think the real question is how much of the corner we have left. I mean, we already know it’s a pretty damn big corner, since we’ve been turning it for like a year! xD

First of all, I was agreeing with him about the Mac OS X version of ZB being more reliable. Second of all, I consider your comments about my response to be personal attacks and I believe that’s not allowed here. I will report them.

I think that Mac OS is pretty reliable and probably less buggy than Vista. If you write software for Mac OS, it's probably less error prone just by nature of the fact that the OS X APIs were written better. As an example, you don't see UI blocking calls in Mac OS when accessing resources, drives, or networks like you do in Windows. I don't hate Mac OS and I never said I did. Please stop making arrogant remarks.

This is how the thread started, let’s try not to let it end in contradiction. ZBrush for Mac is too close. This is a great place for me to get updates and opinions on the subject while I sculpt in bootcamp. It would be nice for those of us regularly checking for new information if we didn’t get it shut down this close to the release. May the Mac ZBrush thread live on to become the Mac ZBrush gallery! Peace!

How many OS X people use 3rd party firewall and virus protection?

With windows it’s hard to be connected to the net and be safe and stable.

My mac has not crashed on me ONCE! And I don’t hear 7 fans blowing in my office.

ugh! what was I thinking when I had a pc. That computer sounded like a jet flying by. My mac pro sounds like it’s off.

I’m sure when ZB3 comes out we will all be so damn happy we will forget about the long wait.

But I tell you, it better not be like the wait for the new star wars movies.
OMG don’t take me there. If a jar jar pops out of zb3 I’m going postal.

peace

^This is a quote from the first post in this thread.^ My mac pro’s nice too, I love it, but let’s try to keep the subject matter about zbrush.
