That’s nothing new, they’ve been saying that for 4 months now.
Well that’s actually a little more optimistic than the reply I got about a week ago. They never used the term “last leg” and didn’t say “Things are going very well and we’re very happy of the results.”…of course it sounded a little more personalized and there was someone’s name at the bottom of the email.
This is the one I got:
Hi there,
We haven’t set an official release date for ZBrush 3 for Mac, yet. However, it is currently in beta testing and as soon as that is finished it should be released.
It should be ready quite soon. I suggest you keep an eye on our website, as it will certainly be announced as soon as we have a concrete release date.
We are not currently looking for any new beta testers.
In regard to your license file, I don’t see it anywhere. You should have sent your TempSN.txt file to [email protected] Try sending it again and we will get you registered as quickly as possible.
Sincerely,
Pixologic ZBrush Support

Very cold and sounded like it was just pieced together from a Q&A list. :td:
I’ve gotten some response as well. What they’ve expressed to me is that the main reason the release has taken so long is because Zbrush has been totally optimized for future updates. Therefore, there should be simultaneous or very close releases from now on. So there’s even more good news!
I wonder what the novelties and surprises are? The “Z4 wishlist” thread has some reasonable suggestions that I bet have been implemented. Of course, there are plenty of unreasonable suggestions there too…
my Z4 wishlist is Z3, at the moment.
Why they couldn’t have just put that piece of info in the forums and saved everyone all this agony and resentment, I’ll never know.
Sounds good on “paper” anyway. Hopefully, it won’t be much longer…
hahahah!! me too
Alright good work! Geezzzz, it shouldn’t be this hard to find stuff out. That makes me feel a little better, actually, alot better. They really need to do a better job with PR.
Well that’s something huh?
“On the last leg of development.” I don’t know how to take that.
Could that mean if this leg goes out it all comes crashing down?
Or does that mean there is only a little bit left to do?
Forgive me, I’m going through a duality phase.
Anyway… good news
I think the letter is a step in the right direction. Maybe they’ve actually now decided to try to do a better job of PR. If Pixologic continues to communicate with us then I thiink a lot of the wounds that have occurred can start to heal, but it will take a concerted effort on their part as the wounds go deep. Time will tell.
I hope it’s something really good! Can’t wait!
I agree PaintGuy, they need to make up a bit with us. Maybe they truly think that what they have will move us so much that we’ll consider it even? Who knows. It must be something quite incredible, because what they have is already amazing, even with ZB2 on a Mac.
It means that we only have 8 more months to wait.
What a welcome change in tone.
I do hope it’s the start of a more personal dialogue between pixologic and it’s customers.
Well done Paint Guy.
fingers crossed, time will tell.
not that I’m in anyway unfond
of you guys … but I’m sure we’d
all rather spend our time on
our own WIP threads than this…
God im so excited my trousers came off… too bad I’m in work… disciplinary hearing is tomorrow morning … oh no! there go my boxers!
To me that reply is still the same “soon” message as always, though I do like to see a more personalized reply - and I doubt that no matter what pxiologic does, it gonna be pretty damn hard to repair this 1 yera plus of waiting time.
Think of how much it has cost:
Lets imagine that each single mac user who has followed this and other similar threads in anticipation of a “Soon” update, has spent 5 hours each on the boards waiting. = Alot of Hours.
Now mulitply that amount of hours with each persons hourly pay, lets for the sake of simplicity say 50$ per hour… Now thats ((50$ x 5 hours) x # of persons) = A LOT OF MONEY
Price of zbrush x # of mac license = alot of money
2 x ALOT of MONEY = A ****load of money that has vanished into thin air.
Pixologic can only make up for the money for licenses by releasing the software, not for the money lost in wasted time…
I’m just glad to find out Pixologic is still planning to release ZBrush 3 for the mac. I had given up on it completely since it hasn’t happened yet and their site seemed to simply be advising mac users to get a program for running windows. I haven’t visited this forum in a while but I e-mailed Pixologic a couple of weeks ago and got a reply similar to the ones here, that it was in the final stages. As vague as that is, at least it’s good to know they haven’t forgotten about us completely.
Man, that’s some twisted math! Can you put that into an equation form with symbols? That might take up an entire chalkboard, though!
The fact that they’re responding with any positive note is a sign that it’s really close.
It supposedly has been designed for future updates, which has a lot to do with the delay. So hopefully this will be the last time we have to wait for Zbrush on the Mac platform.
By ‘close’ do you mean ‘soon’?
Because I’ve been hearing that for
months now, along with positive notes.
Talk is talk, show me the money!!
I agree with Super Glitcher on this one. I mean seriously… no matter how much you try to perfect something it will never be perfect. There will always be bugs. For (insert word here) sakes, just release the damn program.
For over a year now Pixo has said that they’ve been working on it, but has not shown us anything. Talk is cheap. Even with the email responses it doesn’t mean that they really have something that they are going to release soon. How do we even really know that they even started on a ZB3 for Mac?
It would be nice if they had quicklook access to view ZB files in the finder… I have a C4d plug that does this, & it’s nice!
I hope the new version will see all of my RAM, I have 8-gigs, & ZB only sees 2 when i boot into Vista.
I hope we get an improved version, considering we’ve waited so long.
I’d like some more simple way to export assets to other programs (C4d/Maya/etc), I like the way C4d gives you a nice package when you export to AE.
