Mac OSX Crash when Applying Adaptive Skin

Hello,

I am a new ZBrush user. Have been following a tutorial on creating a creature using spheres. After roughing out my creature, when I press the “A” key to preview the adaptive skin, ZBrush crashes instantly.

If I set it to “Use Classic Skinning” it does not crash.

This has brought my learning to a complete halt…anyone please have any ideas about this?

I see that I may have had some spheres in a bad orientation or something. Saved the tool from a Quicksave file after a crash and now it is working fine…so far!

Thanks for the help!

Yes, you want to avoid having zspheres buried inside the structure, or so close that they overlap. I think that’s perhaps what’s happening with the shoulders of your model. Aim for a basic shape which provides a good mesh - don’t attempt to get the exact shape you are after, you can do that at the sculpting stage.
