Hey all!
I finally found some time to finish this -in between- project.
The subject of the sculpture is Lucifero after God just banned him from the heavens. I wanted to portray his emotions, his grief and anger but at the same time his desperation for having lost everything. This is where the idea of a double bust came from. I initially had the 2 busts separated but I kept bringing them closer together realising I could merge the 2 sculptures creating this sort of double sided effect. It was the first time for me trying to create a non-classical piece while still doing my best to keep as anatomically accurate as I could and It was quite the challenge for me.
During the lighting/rendering process I played a lot with many “classical” light setups but I realised that none of them were giving away the raw emotions I was going for. I wanted to make it look like Lucifero was in the abyss, surrounded by darkness with just one light ray illuminating him from the heavens for the last time.
Inspired by the famous painting “Fallen Angel” by Alexandre Cabanel, I decided to add a few tears to his anger-side. I thought it would be kinda cool that if Lucifero was ever to cry, then he would share black tears, filled with his hatred.
The inspiration for this piece came from many sources. Private life, movies, random images online and so on. But I do admit that I really like villains!
I really enjoyed being able to just sculpt without worrying too much about all the technical stuff that comes with 3D.
Anyway, back to the main “very technical” projects now.
Hope you enjoyed it!
