Lower subdivision for rigging

Hello!

I hope I’m at the right forum here - I’m currently making a human model, which is supposed to have a certain pose one it’s finished.
Now, I know how to do a ZSphere-rig - only problem is, that my model has too many polygons and the mesh starts to “ripple” once I’m moving a part of it.

Here’s the problem - I don’t know how to dynamically change the subdiv-levels now, as I didn’t start with “Dynamic subdiv” enabled. At the top of the geometry tab I can only change between “Higher Res” and “Lower Res” (though the “Lower Res” is my high-res model to begin with) and the Div-slider underneath is grayed out. So, could anybody tell me what my options are not to get a low-poly mesh without destroying my details?

(In case it’s important, the overall model has about 600 000 points atm)

In some cases you can use Tool >> Geometry >> Reconstruct Subdiv to generate lower subdivision levels. This will usually work if you’ve subdivided a model in ZBrush and later deleted the lower levels, allowing you to get them back. It rarely works with an imported model because it’s unusual for an imported model to have geometry that matches a subdivided model.

If you cant reconstruct subdivision levels you can instead duplicate your model and then use ZRemesher to create a lower resolution version. Once you have that version you can subdivide it to have approximately the same number of polygons as your original, then project the details from that original to the new multi-resolution version. You can then discard the original.
